Reiki for PTSD and C-PTSD: A Gentle Path to Feeling Safe Again
For those living with PTSD or complex trauma (C-PTSD), the world often doesn’t feel safe—even when there’s no immediate danger. The body stays on high alert. The mind loops through memories or numbs out completely. And even when life looks “normal” from the outside, the inner landscape can feel like a war zone. Whether trauma came from military service, childhood abuse, sexual violence, emotional neglect, or a long-term toxic environment, the impact on the nervous system is deep—and healing must happen gently, on your terms.
While not a substitute for therapy, Reiki can be effective at supporting those with PTSD and CPTSD
At Divinely Designed, I offer Reiki as a quiet, supportive space for those navigating trauma. As a Level II certified Reiki practitioner, I work with clients who carry experiences they cannot always speak aloud—because the body remembers, even when the mind wants to forget. Reiki offers a non-verbal way to begin releasing what no longer serves you, without reactivating or retraumatizing.
Reiki is not a substitute for therapy, but it is a profoundly complementary tool. It supports the body’s parasympathetic response, allowing your nervous system to begin shifting out of survival mode. For many living with PTSD or C-PTSD, the first goal isn’t “healing” in the traditional sense—it’s finding moments of calm, of softening, of rest. Reiki helps create those moments.
In a typical session, you remain fully clothed, resting on a comfortable table, with blankets and supports available as needed. I use light hand placement or hover just above the body, always with consent, always with care. The energy flows to where it’s needed most—often to the areas where the trauma has lodged itself in the physical or energetic body. Some clients feel warmth, tingling, or lightness. Others feel deeply relaxed for the first time in weeks. All are welcome to experience it at their own pace, without pressure or expectation.
For those with military-related PTSD, Reiki can be a valuable bridge between medical treatment and emotional integration. For civilians with complex trauma histories, it can offer relief when traditional modalities feel overwhelming or out of reach. At Divinely Designed, each session is approached with the understanding that trauma doesn’t always look one way—and healing doesn’t follow a fixed timeline.
I’ve worked with clients who’ve told me that Reiki gave them the first real sleep they’ve had in months. Others have shared that they finally stopped dissociating during stressful moments, or felt strong enough to have a conversation that had been weighing on them for years. These changes are subtle, sacred, and very real.
Reiki is an excellent tool for stress reduction and clarity. We specialize in assisting clients who are dealing with PTSD, addiction/recovery and generalized anxiety. Available live or remotely.
You don’t need to explain your trauma to begin healing it. You don’t need to be “ready” or “strong.” You just need to show up—and Reiki will meet you where you are. Gently, without judgment. That is the heart of this work. And it would be my honor to hold that space for you.
