Paroketh: Rending the Veil
For centuries, a single curtain stood between humanity and the Divine Presence. I open it with four Hebrew letters and my own two hands.
In the ancient Tabernacle, and later in the Temple in Jerusalem, a great curtain hung before the innermost chamber. Behind it was the Holy of Holies, the dwelling place of the Divine Presence. Only one person ever passed through it: the High Priest, once a year, on the Day of Atonement.
The Hebrew name for that curtain is Paroketh. It means veil.
Designate and Consecrate the Circle: Building the Altar You Can't See
There's the altar you can touch, and there's the one you can't. The first holds my tools. The second holds me, my space, my workings, and the line of light that runs from all of it up to Divine Source. I created this ritual to build that second altar, and I build it every time.
The Qabalistic Cross: Where Every Working Begins
Four points of the body, five Hebrew words, and a pillar of light. It's the simplest ritual I know, and the one I would never skip.
Cutting Cords
There are many different rites of protection that people will choose based upon their particular magic or meditational practice. Just like with any hexing spells, I would caution you to use protection spells sparingly and for the right reasons. Don’t use them to push the world away. Use them to encourage the best of the world to share your life with and to weed out anything toxic and unhealthy.
Ancestral Karma
There are many ways that we can face the karma and the trauma and the wrongs of past generations and find ways that we can heal them for ourselves, for our families, and even for those who lived a long time ago. It starts with compassion, even for the worst wrongs. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.
What Magic Is This?
To work magic effectively, one must first understand the elements and the cosmic forces that govern them. It’s not about following a prescribed set of rituals; it’s about connecting with the world in a way that allows you to channel its energy with intention and purpose.
Crystals
When you first get a crystal home, let it sit a while. Perhaps a few days or even a week. Have a small box handy that you can place any of your crystals in when you first receive them, and then set them in a location in or outside of your home where they will be safe. (All of your magical tools in fact should take up space at your altar for a while before you consecrate and then use them). This gives them a chance to ‘breathe’ and settle in, to recognize the energy of your space and to begin to understand the role they will play in your life. You’ll need to place them somewhere where they are not exposed to the elements since some crystals can be damaged by water, by sunlight, etc.
